The Food - From the first, white-bearded old man wearing glasses and
has been recognized internationally. His face was plastered as fast-food
restaurant network icon. Soon, anyone can read the story of his life through
his memoirs that will soon be launched by KFC.
Harlan Sanders, Colonel Sanders used to be called, is the founder of Kentucky
Fried Chicken (KFC) since 1952. Before becoming one of the most successful
restaurateur in the world, he has gone through tough times in early life.
His father died, his mother worked sewing clothes, so that Sanders had to cook
for people four siblings. Sanders never ran away from home because his
stepfather was rude, and he was forced to quit school in grade 7.
As the eldest son, who was born 9 September 1890 must make a living since the
age of 10 years. Various jobs he has struggled to survive. However, as the
'Colonel' acquired after joining the U.S. Army.
Used to cook as a child, Sanders is able to produce delicious dishes. He began
his career in the culinary field while serving fried chicken in Sanders' Court
& Cafe, a restaurant located at his gas station in Kentucky, USA, in 1930.
This effort was successful, to the extent that in 1935 the governor of Kentucky
bestowed honors for his contributions to the culinary Sanders in the state.
Five years later, Sanders perfected his secret recipe is made from 11 herbs and
spices, which we now know as the 'Original Recipe'. However, the name
"Kentucky Fried Chicken 'emerged in 1952, when Sanders in collaboration
with an entrepreneur to sell his fried chicken restaurant in there.
Of blue-collar workers paid $ 2 per month, Sanders developed into a
multi-million dollar business. KFC now become the world's largest fried chicken
with more than 17,000 restaurants in 115 countries. Although he had died in
1980, glasses, tie, and mustache, beard and white hair never missed any
knick-knacks adorn KFC until now.
Sanders wrote the whole story of his life in a book called 'Colonel Harland
Sanders: The Autobiography of the Original Celebrity Chef'. By-spoken style,
Sanders completed his journey with 33 photographs and homemade recipes have
been published. However, the biography written since 1966 was only discovered
45 years later in the company archives.
