Malaysia Oman Help Establish Halal Training Center

The state capital of Muscat, Oman, plans to create a training center and halal certification. To that end, they were assisted by the agency to make Malaysia the food processing industry in line with the principles of halal.

Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) Malaysia and the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) has signed a memorandum for cooperation in providing education, training, and development of halal products in the industrial area in Oman.

Consent was signed by both countries. "HDC will provide training, ensure quality assurance, and certification of halal products. This will enable customers in Oman and elsewhere in the world, "says Hilal bin Hamad al Hasani, Chief Executive Officer PEIE.

According to Hilal, the plan aims to provide technical assistance to the private sector on halal certification and training, which will lure more investment. The headquarters will be located in Muscat, and there are branches in Sohar area.

HDC is a one-stop agency in terms of developing a halal food industry. HDC in collaboration with potential investors to take Malaysia as an area that has many quality halal products.

Malaysian Trade Minister Dato Sri Mustapa Mohamed said that Oman is Malaysia's third largest trading partner in the GCC region. Total bilateral trade between Malaysia and Oman soar 179 percent and touched the figure of 740.5 million dollars in 2011.

"Oman has enormous potential in developing halal food products", said Dato Sri Mustapa Mohamed again. The existence of a free trade agreement between Oman and the United States, as well as strategic location will make Oman is predicted to be a supplier of halal products to other countries.
